Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Lindsey, the daughter of John and Rosie (Mahan) Hopkins. She was raised in the Dibble and Fletcher area and graduated from Fletcher High School.

Betty married David Stauffer in February 1951. Together, they raised two daughters, Gail and Sheila, in Elgin. Betty retired in 1992 after 20 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a faithful member of the Fletcher First Assembly of God Church.

Betty loved to laugh and cook for her large family. She was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. Betty was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying had on her family, her friends, and the world at large. Those of us who love and respect her, will miss sitting, talking, laughing, and crying with her, but we celebrate her life and her legacy.

Betty is survived by her daughter Shelia Baird and her husband Charles, of Fletcher; eight grandchildren: David Rich, Stephen Rich, Adam Rich, Hank Hutson, Melissa Woodall, Michelle Martinez, Clayton Hutson, and Lacie Sunray; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Bertha Lloyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
