Donny “Double D” Diehl, 66, of Elgin, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home Sunday, June 30, 2024. Donny was born July 31, 1957, at Fort Sill, to Donald T. and Mary Nell (Davenport) Diehl.

In loving memory of Donny, whose heart overflowed with love for God, his devoted wife, and cherished family and friends. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life: tending to his land, tirelessly working on his tractor, and passionately pursuing projects around the farm. Country living was his sanctuary, where he embraced every facet of outdoor life — from the tranquility of fishing and the challenge of golfing, to the camaraderie of camping and the exhilaration of attending rodeos and riding bulls.

Always at his side was his faithful companion, Barley, and his horses, which brought him boundless pride and joy. As a dedicated member of the Lawton Rangers, he found community and purpose in riding in parades and contributing his skills, mainly setting pivots at rodeos.

Donny’s legacy of hard work, love for his family, and deep appreciation for the outdoors will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched.

Donny retired from Goodyear with 34 years of experience with the majority of his time in the shipping department.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Paula Jean (Hennessee) Diehl of the home, two sons: Jimmy Don Diehl and wife Rachel, and Justin Lee Diehl and wife Savanna, both of Lawton; grandchildren: Mercedes Diehl, Olivia Vasquez-Hutchinson, Kaden Diehl, Kason Diehl, Katie Fite, Karlie Diehl, Korrie Diehl, Kenadie Diehl, and Kobie Diehl and one great grandson Weston Lee Diehl; two sisters: Lana Hart and husband Roney of Lawton, and Debbie Perryman and husband Jim of Graham, Texas. A very special aunt and uncle in Russellville, Arkansas, Jim and Freida Davenport, extended family, Rolly, Stephanie, Jakob, Jadyn, and Jason Evans, and other special nieces and nephews.

Donny was preceded in death by his parents.
