Ramona Gay Simmons

Ramona Gay Simmons, age 71, peacefully passed from this world and went home to be with our Lord in paradise on Friday, August 9, 2024, at her family home in Cache, Oklahoma.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Cache Christian Church.

Interment will follow at the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ramona was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 19, 1953, to Geneva M. (Webb) Simmons and Lonnie P. Simmons and was raised in Cache.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie, and sister, Vicki M. (Simmons) Wilson.

Survivors include her mother, Geneva, brother, Gary and his wife Deb, brother, Scott and his wife Victoria all from Cache. She was also survived by her nephew, Brady and his wife Jan from Tyler, Texas, nieces, Amanda (Simmons) Carollo and husband Vinnie, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Beth (Dunlap) Keenan, Pennsylvania and nephew, Adam Simmons, Fairborn, Ohio. She was also survived by her great nieces and great nephews, Mary, Anna, Caden, Levi, Lewis, and great great nephew Jeriah. She was also survived by her aunt, Shirley Webb, and many beloved cousins.

Ramona graduated high school in Cache and went on to receive her MA in Theater Arts at OSU in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She taught English & Drama at Eisenhower High School in Lawton and Theater & Drama at Lubbock, Texas. She was a talented artist who loved drawing, painting, sewing, quilting, movies, theater, acting, music, and the arts in general. In her theatrical experience, she participated at various times as an actress as well as production, sets, lighting, and costumes at various venues such as the Lawton Community Theater, Tahlequah Summer Theater Chautauqua, Warner Brothers Studios, Hollywood, California, and others. She also lived and worked in South Pasadena, California, as well as in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Memphis, Tennessee. In 2021, she returned to her family home in Cache to live closer to her immediate family.

Ramona was beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived life on her own terms, smiled and laughed a lot, she appreciated inspired things and people, and was always kind and generous.

Ramona is now home with our Lord, and we’re going to miss her until we see her again.
