Born April 1, 1944 near Mountain View, OK to Ralph Ray and Debbie Angie (Roberts) Dodd. He attended Mountain View schools and then graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1963. He attended Cameron University and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Biology.

Jack married Janice Lee on April 19, 1963. They lived in Lawton and Altus for a while, then raised their four children near Cache. He worked at various jobs and ultimately retired from a civil service career of 30 years at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in March 2006. He was a member of First Baptist West, Lawton.

The highlight of Jack’s school years was winning Grand Champion Lamb at the Oklahoma State Livestock Show in 1961. He was also very proud to be a Charter Member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame since 1956. In 1974-75 Jack and Janice were the stock contractors and producers of youth rodeos for the Miniature Rodeo Association, fueling the fire for his children’s love of horses and rodeo. Playdays, stock shows and rodeos were a big part of the early years for the kids and Jerry and Janie continued to rodeo through college. Jack was involved in everything western in the community including reenactment shootouts for Cache’s Frontier Days and involvement in the Cache Riding Club for many years. He was also an active member of the Cache Lions Club. Jack was proud to serve on the Cache School Board for a five year term. After retirement he restored a Model A car and pick-up where he and Janice enjoyed outings with the Lawton Antique Auto Club. He also had cattle and horses and continued to hunt and camp as he had in his youth.
