Ricky "Papa Rick" Devon Arterberry

Papa Rick, went to his heavenly home on January 4, 2025, at the age of 59. He was born on April 17, 1965, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Jimmie Wayne and Beatrice "Sue" Roach Arterberry. A proud member of the Comanche Tribe, his Comanche name was Thud-a-koo.
Rick entered the U.S. Air Force in January 1984 and served honorably for 20 years. He specialized in missile maintenance, patient advocacy, and physical therapy, eventually retiring as a TSgt in February 2004. He completed two deployments in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. Rick loved spending his time with his children and grandchildren, attending their events, and creating lasting memories. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. In recent years, he enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, and working toward becoming a social media influencer. Above all, Rick was most proud of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Wayne and Beatrice "Sue" Arterberry; his brother, Terry Arterberry; uncles Melvin Guy Roach Jr., Howard Roach, Stacy Kassanavoid, and James Wilson; and cousins Mark Kassanavoid and Shannon Lay.
Rick is survived by his children: Ricky Arterberry Jr. and his children Phoenix and Maddox; Joshua Arterberry and his children Aspynn, Hinley, and Kixx; and Brooke Robello and her husband Marcus, with children Kameron and Kendall. He is also survived by brother Jimmy Arterberry, sister Kathy Daniel, aunts Arlene Wilson, Linda Roach, Virgie Kassanavoid, Suzanna Roach, and uncle Harley Roach. Numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles. His extended family and loving fianc?, Angie.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Post Oak Indian Church in Indiahoma, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of the Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
Papa Rick's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He never met a stranger and always treated everyone like family.
