Ralph Edward Kinder

May 05, 2025

Ralph Edward Kinder, 67, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his farm in Paris, Kentucky.
A native of Tillman County, Oklahoma, Ralph was the son of Mattie Stoll Kinder and the late Billy Roy Kinder. From a young age, he partnered with his brother Quinton Kinder in farming and ranching, laying the foundation for a life deeply connected to the land and livestock. Ralph had a lifelong love for horses and the cowboy way of life. He was a bronc-ridin’, boot-scootin’ rockstar that didn’t play guitar.
In 1999, he moved with his family to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where they opened two stores selling eclectic imported furnishings to the community. He held a deep appreciation for beauty in art and the natural world. He loved spending time in those mountains and especially enjoyed skiing with friends and family. He had more friends than anyone could count, and was truly the life of the party. He was a sharp dresser and always smelled good. He would say, ‘oh YUM’ if he liked what you cooked him. He had a good spirit and appreciated the bottled kind too.
As a longtime horseman and owner of Alliance Bloodstock Agency, he had many accomplishments, including his instrumental role in the purchase of 2009 GI Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird. In 2010 Ralph moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky to further pursue his career in the professional world of horse racing. Alongside his children and extensive posse, including but not limited to; Rusty, Scott, Bobby, Stewart, Stuart, Keith, Norm, Larry, Victor, and late partner Erv Woolsey, he helped shape a legacy of excellence in racing and breeding. Their Alliance was behind more than 160 stakes winners. Together, they co-bred 2017 GII Best Pal Stakes winner Run Away, multiple graded stakes winner Miss Mo Mentum, and stakes winner Just Read It. Ralph and his partners also campaigned graded winners such as Jordan’s Henny and Lookin for Eight. It’s been said that Ralph’s forgotten more about horses than most people will ever know.
In addition to his mother, Ralph is survived by his son, Baron Edward Kinder (Jaimee Gentile); daughter, Kathryn Grace Kinder; mother of his children, Lissa; brother, Quinton (Michelle) Kinder; nephews, Chisolm Kinder and Asa Kinder; niece, Mercedes Amyx; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Roy Kinder, and his son, Billy Roy Kinder II.
The family invites all who wish to honor Ralph’s memory to join them on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Tillman County Fairgrounds in Frederick, Oklahoma, from 4 to 7 PM. Saddle up and come pay your respects.
