Ronald F. Nelson Jr. went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2025, with his family by his side in Oklahoma City, OK. Ronald was born on November 23, 1974, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Ronald is survived by his cherished son, Seth R. Nelson and his wife Jaynee Nelson who loved and stood by him for 14 years; his sisters, LoriAnn Stropes and Husband Scott Stropes of Perkins and Teresa C. Perez and Husband Marco Perez of San Antonio, TX; and his brother, Timothy C. Nelson of Lawton. He also leaves behind his beloved grandmother, Selma "Nive" Herrera of Lawton; aunts Teresa Lopez, Johnnie Mantzke, and Alexis Thomas, all of Lawton, and Valora Ardwin of Arkansas; uncles Theodore Villicana, Nabor Villicana, and Raymond Herrera of Lawton, Louie Pohawpatchoko of Cache, OK, and Willie Nelson of Fort Cobb, OK. Ronald’s extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald (Butch) F. Codynah Nelson Sr.; his mother, Delphine F. Villicana Nelson; and his nephew, Keith A. Nelson.
A proud and passionate fan of OU football, Ronald could quote stats, analyze plays, and share his spirited opinions on the team—an enthusiasm passed down from his father. He especially enjoyed listening to sportscaster Dan Patrick, whose commentary always struck a chord.
Ronald had a keen eye for hidden treasures, often spending weekends at thrift stores and estate sales. Whether it was the thrill of the find or the joy of the haggle, he relished the experience. A devoted fan of science fiction, Ronald loved all things Star Wars, and his favorite movie—Spaceballs—never failed to bring a smile to his face.
Ronald’s warmth, humor, and unique spirit touched everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in every OU game day, every vintage find, and every sci-fi adventure that brings joy.
