Funeral service for James Ivan White, 78, of Indiahoma, OK will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
James passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his home.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the funeral home.
James was born on May 10, 1947 in Tulsa, OK to Ivan and Evelyn (Thompson) White. His family moved around in his younger years and settled in Cache, OK where he attended school and graduated. He then began attending Cameron University when he was drafted in the United States Army, and served one tour of duty in the Vietnam War. After his service with the military ended, he framed houses and later started WW Properties with his friend and built houses. James worked as a fireman for the City of Lawton and served for 25 years.
James went on a blind date on March 15, 1987 with Marla Daugherty, and the two were joined at the hip ever since and married on December 31, 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed watching western movies, especially John Wayne movies, camping, fishing, traveling to Colorado in the summer and Port Aransas in the winter, spending time with his friends and family, and working with his tractor.
He is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Marla White; his sisters, Carroll Jett and husband, Sam, Brenda Fay McKeever, and Linda Kay Lowery; his sister in law, Loretta VanBuren; his brother in law, Wayland Denney; his step children, Justin Daugherty and wife, Donna, and Jaymie Daugherty and wife, Kristina; his 5 grandchildren; his 2 great grandchildren; his favorite niece, Gayle Denney Fox, his nephew, Quinton Lyle Denney; and many other loving family members and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents.
