Raymond "Chance" Slater

Raymond “Chance” Slater, age 51, passed away on January 8, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1974, to Roger Leo and Anita Sue (Clark) Slater.
Funeral service for Chance will be on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at First Baptist Church, 700 W Petree Rd., Anadarko, OK. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Services under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Chance had been a resident of Elgin, Oklahoma for the past 20 years and was a member of the Lost Cowboy Church of Gracemont, Oklahoma. He proudly served with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for 23 years, retiring after a dedicated career marked by loyalty, integrity, and strong friendships. He had a paint business for 20+ years with his buddy Brian Dixon named Big Bear Painting, which he loved to paint houses and fences.
On August 16, 1997, Chance married Robin Slater, and to this union two children were born, Connor and Chandler, who were the pride and joy of his life. He especially loved watching his son Connor play basketball and he was extremely proud of Chandler for pursuing her degree in Nursing
Chance enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly going to the lake, boating, fishing, and hunting. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and loved listening to country music, enjoying many genres. Known as a great friend, Chance valued camaraderie and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Connor Blayke Slater of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his daughter, Chandler Paige Slater of Yukon, Oklahoma; former wife Robin Slater of Yukon, Oklahoma; His uncle Gary Clark and wife Sharon of Norman, Oklahoma; many cousins; close friend Leroy Head and family and a host of friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Anita Slater.
