Ewell Lynn Hollaway
April 15, 2026
Ewell (Lynn) Hollaway of Lawton passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026 at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 18, 1939 to John and Lou Fern (Rose) Hollaway and was raised in Blair, OK. He graduated from Blair High School in 1957.
At the age of 16, he drove a school bus. One day there were tornadoes coming in their path and he drove the bus into a farmer’s barn and protected the kids.
He started very young helping his dad, which was an electrician.
They installed antennas to the town of Blair when TV first came out. He was Forman on one of the missile silos around Altus at the age of 20.
He married Precious Bethalena Isbell and had four children, Angel, Ricky, Venius, and Precious. They moved to Tipton, Oklahoma, where they became the first set of house parents at Tipton Home the home ever had. There they were parents for 18+ kids at a time. Never dull with that many. He cherished them as if they were his own. He tucked the kids into bed…well sort of. There was jumping on the beds, wrestling, whiskering and a lot of love.
He was a jokester. When he was wiring the Commissary at Ft. Sill, the guys would eat lunch around a fire. One day, he threw a bunch of firecrackers in and scared the crew! There was a story that involved Limburger cheese, too. Oh...it wasn't limited to work, he put a live frog in the toilet at home and scared Angel!
He moved to Tulsa and installed cables and wiring in commercial buildings for the new computers that had just come out. Always learning.
In his retirement years he moved back to Lawton where he resided with Angel and family. He and BJ were partners in crime. Not that either of them needed help. lol
He had a big heart, always helping people, even when no one else would. Loved to cook and garden. A great dad. Talented. Hard working. Loved to sing…though it was off tune, it made him happy. He would sing along when Angel would play the piano or when movies came on Like Mary Poppins or South Pacific.
He is survived by daughters Angel Mayo (Greg), Venius Dobson (Ernesto) granddaughters Heaven Speirs (Brandon), Christina Merrill, Amy Ballard and Sierra Fogle, grandsons BJ Lindsay, Spencer Hollaway, Elliott Hollaway, Chris Ballard, and Johnathan Fogle, sister Arela Overton and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Harvey Hollaway, son Ricky Hollaway, daughter Precious (Dee) Merrill.
