Funeral Service for Brian Allen Tonips will be on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sandra Ticeahkie officiating. Prayer Service will be 7 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Comanche Nation Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Cache Creek KCA Cemetery, Apache, OK under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 1-7pm at Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
Brian Allen Tonips went home be with his Lord and Savior on June 24, 2026. He was born to Kevin Leon Tonips and Cheryl Ann Kopaddy on April 5, 1977, in Lawton. Brian graduated from Riverside Indian School in1997. He enjoyed going to car shows, bumping music and gatherings with his family and friends. He was a proud member of the Comanche Nation and a descendent of the Kiowa- Apache Tribe & Kiowa Tribe.
Growing up he attended the New Rock Church of Lawton where he was involved with their youth ministry and had the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in Boliva, South America to help build a church. He worked as a mover/truck driver with different companies throughout his life. He cared about his family and helped out when and where he could. He enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends and teasing just about everyone he came in contact with.
He is survived by his mother: Cheryl RedElk; children: Tennyson Allen Tonips, Amiya Devine, both of Lawton, Breanna Tonips of Anadarko; sisters: Kevin Tonips of Lawton and Mikael "Mikki" Smith of OKC; maternal great aunt: Nettie Sandoval of Yukon; two aunts: Romelia Kassanavoid of Cache and Karen Kopaddy of Lawton; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father: Kevin Leon Tonips; stepfather: Michael D. RedElk; maternal grandmother: Cora Soontay Tiddark; step grandfather: Napolean "Nipper" Tiddark; maternal great grandmother: Alice Domebo Soontay; maternal great grandfather: Howard Soontay, SR.; paternal great grandmother: Maggie Sankedota; paternal great grandfather: Clarence Sankadota; aunts: Nadine Kopaddy Kauley and Bertha Tahhahwah; paternal grandfather: Kenneth (Micky) Tonips.
