Funeral service for Carol Jean Cox, was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Neff, officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Carol Jean Cox, 77, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on July 1, 2026, in Lawton. She was born on October 25, 1948, in Lawton, to Guy Luther and Gwendolyn J. (Johnson) Shull.

Carol was raised in the Elgin area and graduated from Elgin High School in 1966, where she was known as an exceptional athlete. Following high school, she dedicated many years of service to Comanche County as the Assistant Secretary for the Comanche County Election Board.

A devoted fan of Oklahoma sports, Carol rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Whether watching a game from home or discussing the latest season with family and friends, her enthusiasm for her teams was unmistakable.

Above all, Carol cherished her family. She took great pride in her children and granddaughter and treasured the time spent with them. 

Carol is survived by her children, Carey Angell and husband Troy, Lawton, Walt Cox and wife Angie, Luther, Oklahoma and Sara Bradlau, Lawton; her granddaughter, Kennedy Cox, Wichita, Kansas and nieces and nephews, Cody and wife, Heather, Jean Ann, Bayleigh and Tripp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Luther Shull and Gwendolyn J. Shull; her brother, Steve Shull; and her sister, Ann Dodson.
