August 18, 2026

Royce E. Robinson, 88, of Georgetown, TX, peacefully passed away August 15, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 30, 1938 in Camargo, Oklahoma in a two-room house without electricity or running water during one of the coldest winters on record. He overcame adversity to graduate as Valedictorian in 1956 from Camargo High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Royce earned his Master's Degree in Public School Administration at Central State University. He also completed the coursework for his PhD. Royce married Carol Jones in 1961, and they had two sons, Scott Alan and Steven Royce.

Royce began his career teaching industrial arts to 8th grade boys.  He loved teaching young people and worked for Job Corps, a federal program for disadvantaged youth, training them for a construction career and their high school education. Royce worked for Job Corps for 31 years and was the longest serving Center Director. During that time, Royce touched the lives of thousands of young people and helped them become productive citizens. Upon his retirement at 59, Royce accomplished a life-long dream of single handedly building a house for his niece, Lesli Robinson Morgan.

Royce married Lois McCown in 1995 and gained a second family, which included a son and three daughters. They moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2002 and used their construction company to remodel homes doing all the work themselves.

During his lifetime, Royce was a diligent servant of the Lord and worked on several mission projects. Royce was not a preacher or evangelist, but demonstrated his godly gifts through his talents by serving the community and showing his children and grandchildren the value of integrity and generosity. He used his carpentry skills to repair homes with Community Restore and quietly remodeled local churches and church daycares. Royce is known for his skills, hard work and honesty and has positively impacted many children and adults throughout his long and productive life

Royce is preceded in death by his father, Alex Robinson, and mother, Anna Donley Robinson.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lois Robinson, by their children Scott and Keri Robinson, Steve and Stacy Robinson, Kevin and Mylene McCown, Angela and David Wallace, Rachel McCown, and Emily Jimenez; grandchildren Brandon and Leah Huggins, Kathryn and Cory Bowen, Alex and Tanner Mills, Sara and Lily Robinson, Kara and Brandon Batesole, Jennifer McCown, Jacob McCown, Brantley Wallace, Jonathan Wallace, Briana Jimenez, Cameron Jimenez; and great-grandchildren Mia Huggins, Parker Huggins, Caleb Bowen and Sloan Mills.  He is also survived by his brothers Waid Robinson (wife Alberta), Rayburn Robinson and numerous nieces and nephews.
