Suzanne Marie Snider

Suzanne Marie Snider was born Aug. 4, 1940 in Harrah to Goldie Opal and Almon Edgar (Bunk) Jones. She passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024. She was 83 years old.

Suzanne was raised in Jones, and graduated from Jones High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, Don Ray Snider, while attending college in Oklahoma City. They were married in Oklahoma City on April 24, 1959.

Don and Suzanne were married for 64 years before his death in January of 2023. She has missed him dearly ever since.

Suzanne received her teaching degree from USAO in Chickasha and later received her Masters Degree at UCO in Edmond. Suzanne loved children and was a Special Education Teacher in Cyril Public Schools for 27 years before retiring in 1998. After retiring from Cyril Public Schools, while living at Grand Lake, she went back to teach in Cleora, for another five years, for a total of 32 years in education.

Suzanne and Don spent most of their marriage in Cyril where they raised their three children, Suzan Christine, Donna Rae, and Steven Brett. They spent many years square dancing and traveling to Colorado in their RV for the summers before they found a spot at Grand Lake, that they loved. They lived there for five years before finally settling down in Fletcher in 2008.

Suzanne loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she and Don spent a large part of their retirement together attending their sporting events and hosting family holidays at their home. She loved baking, gardening and sewing for her family, she made the most beautiful baby blankets.

Suzanne was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Suzanne is survived by her three children: Chris and her husband Steve Dacus of Fletcher; Rae Smith and Larry Bentley of Verden, and Brett and his wife Robbie Snider of Cyril; 10 grandchildren: Blake, Davin and Jessica Dacus; Chad, Chance, Amy and Chase Smith; and Lindsay Stewart and Drew and Matt Snider; 22 great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Declan, Denni, Clayton, Hannah, Taylon, Valorie, Ashley, Eli, Brendon, Chloe, Dalton, Dillon, Katelyn, Shelby, Hayven, Justin, Lennox, Raylee, Kadon, Jaxon, and Arin; and one great-great-grandchild, Blake Jess; her sister Mary Lee Weiss of Edmond; numerous nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law, Randy Snider of Grand Junction, and sister-in-law, Merlene Stevenson of Houston, TX

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents Bunk and Goldie Jones, her husband Don Ray Snider, a sister Jane Holt, and brother, Enos Jones and his wife Vicky.

The service is planned for Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Fletcher United Methodist Church with Pastor Rachel Nightingale officiating. Interment will be at the Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher, under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
