Norma Jeannine Hill
January 27, 2025

Norma Jeannine Potter was born on September 8, 1934 to Valetta and Sam Potter in Walters, Okla. She entered her heavenly reward on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Norma married Jerry Hill in a small ceremony in her childhood home in Walters on September 21, 1953. They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together and were blessed with three sons: Gary, Steve, and Mark Hill, all of Lawton.
A couple of years into their marriage, Norma and Jerry settled in Lawton, partnered with Norma’s parents, and bought and managed H & P Grocery on Cache Road. It was during this time that they picked up a “hobby” that would change their lives. They started bowling in leagues at the newly opened Thunderbird Lanes and soon fell in love with the sport. After some time, Jerry began managing the bowling center, and Norma was instrumental in making the business a success.
Norma was an avid competitor and worked her way to becoming one of the strongest female bowlers in this area of the country. They traveled all over bowling in tournaments and she brought home many honors. They cherished those trips and the friendships they made along the way.
She was the first person to be inducted into the Lawton-Ft. Sill Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame and was also a member of the Oklahoma Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.
Bowling, however, was not the only thing she enjoyed. She was always game to try something active. She played tennis regularly for many years and even into her late 80’s, she would step up to the plate and take her turn at bat at the family’s annual Easter backyard baseball game. She was an excellent cook and also loved working in the yard and listening to music.
Of all of the things she loved, nothing surpassed her family. She looked forward to any chance that the family had to gather to celebrate someone’s birthday or a holiday. Even when she was not well, she somehow managed to show up and be in good spirits.
Norma is survived by her three sons and their wives: Gary and Tracey Hill, Steve and Peggy Hill, and Mark Hill. She will also be missed by her five grandchildren and their spouses: Janice and Steve Croft, Brant Hill, Mitchell and Chelsie Hill, Kellan and Sara Hill, and Shaylin and Paddy Gartlan. Norma was also the proud great-grandmother of 10 great-grandchildren: Carter, Ella, and Jake Croft; Avery, Cash, Dylan, and Knox Hill; Emery Brown, Jackson Hale, and Victoria Gartlan.
For over 30 years, Norma was a member of Cameron Baptist Church and she and Jerry loved the friendships made from being a part of the Sunday School Department there. In her last years, she also loved attending Western Hills Church of Christ with her family.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2 p.m. — 4 p.m. at Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service honoring Norma at Western Hills Church of Christ on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 10 a.m.
Entombment will follow in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in honor of Norma and her life well lived.
