SSG (Retired) John D. Mortensen

SSG (Retired) John D. Mortensen, 76, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 in Chattanooga.
His funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Chattanooga at 1:00 P.M. 
Burial with full military honors followed in Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The service may be viewed on the First Baptist Church Chattanooga website.
John was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Anna (Hotchkins) Mortensen and Dale Mortensen. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol (Kovach) Mortensen.
He is survived by his siblings, Kenneth Mortensen, Richard Mortensen, Daniel Mortensen and Susan (Mortensen) Forbes, his stepchildren, Kimberly (Mortensen) Bergey, Amanda (Moser) Miller and Walter Moser, Jr. He had numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as three great-grandchildren and many great nieces and nephews.
