Caroline Kay Hall

Caroline Kay Hall, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023 in Lawton.

Kay was born on Nov. 26,1944 in Roosevelt to Ira Calvery and Mamie Brady Calvery. Kay spent her early childhood in Roosevelt and helped in the family laundromat while attending school. When Kay was a teenager, her family moved to Lawton, where she attended Lawton High School. During this time, she met her one true love, Lloyd Lee Hall. They married on Nov. 17, 1962 and started growing their family. Their three children, Sandra, Donald and Denis inherited Kay’s sarcastic wit as well as her love for food.
Kay worked as a teaching assistant at Wilson Elementary School for several years and touched the lives of many kids in the LRC program. In 1985, Kay chose to follow her dream and enrolled in cosmetology school at Eve’s College of Hairstyling. Upon completion, she worked at the Montgomery Ward Beauty Salon until she opened her own business which was located in her home, Kay’s Kuts. When not styling hair, Kay was at the ball field or the school supporting her kids. After 23 years, Kay closed the doors of her salon and retired in 2001. She loved the Oklahoma Sooners, crocheting, and her family.
Kay is survived by her children: Sandra and her husband Gregg Soppet of Lawton, and Denis Wells and her partner Sam Couch of Cache; grandchildren: Hunter Pauley and his wife, Amy of Shalimar, FL, Jace Dugan and his husband Zach of Oklahoma City, Braden Pauley of Las Vegas, NV, Brycen Pauley of Virginia Beach, VA, Anna-Grace Hall of Cache, Brady Hall of Cache, and Reign Wells of Cache; four great-grandsons; daughter-in-law Kelley Hall; nieces: Sherry Calvery, Terri and husband Bubba Sanders and their son Jake Sanders; and best friend Judy Siem.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd, her son, Donald, her brother, Scotty Calvery, and her nephew, Elton Calvery.
At Kay’s request, her body was donated to science and a formal funeral service will not be held. She asked that all who knew and loved her to please celebrate her memory privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Donald Lee Hall Memorial Scholarship, through the Cameron University Foundation, 2800 West Gore Blvd, Lawton, OK 73505. This scholarship will assist students with true financial need attain their educational goals.
